Rare birds spotted
Black-faced spoonbills are seen foraging and playing at Shenzhen Bay recently. A large number of migratory birds have come to Shenzhen to spend the winter since the weather gets increasingly colder in the north. A bird watcher, Tian Zhihui, said more than 20 black-faced spoonbills have been spotted since Shenzhen entered fall this year. The black-faced spoonbill, an endangered species, has a long and flat beak that looks like a pipa, the Chinese musical instrument. Shenzhen is reportedly the species’ second-largest habitat in the world.
